Singapore Convention on Health, Fitness and Sports

Over the course of two days, more than 350 participants took part in the 1st Annual Singapore Convention on Health, Fitness and Sports 2016 (SCHFS).

Jointly organised by the team at International Sports Academy, and the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), SCHFS aims to be the flagship Convention in Singapore, where key thought leaders and industry experts in the area of Health, Fitness, and Sports can come together to generate ideas, and to share their experience and success stories in the area of Health, Fitness and Sports. The ultimate aim is to improve sports participation, widen access to capital, create jobs, and to improve health and wellness.

For this year's event, SCHFS is privileged to be able to invite the following industry expert in the area of health and fitness training to share with the participants their views and insights on the following topics:

  • Mr. Gary Vitti (Consultant to Los Angeles Lakers) - Athletic Training in the 21st century Evaluation Techniques,Corrective Exercises and Performance Exercise;

  • Dr. Benedict Tan (Chief and Senior Consultant of Sports Medicine at Changi General Hospital) - Designing an Endurance Running Programme;

  • Professor Robert Newton (Associate Dean, Medical and Exercise Sciences and Co-Director of the Exercise Medicine Research Institute at Edith Cowan University) - Exercise as a Synergistic Medicine in Cancer Management;

  • Dr. Teoh Chin Sim (Senior Consultant and Director of the Sports Medicine Centre at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital) - Pills and Potions for Peak Performance: Why, and Why Not;

  • Mr. Alan Ma (Director of Star River Professional Tennis Club, Chinese National Tennis Coach) - Achieving Peak Performance: Periodisation and Injury Prevention;

  • Dr. Troy Baker (Elite Support Lead for Hudl in the Asia Pacific) - Maximising sport performance with technology; and

  • Mr. Scott Logan (Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach, New Zealand Black Sticks) - Maximising sport performance with technology.

After the successful conduct of SCHFS, the team at #teamISA will continue to work with each of the speakers, and work on producing further materials, courses and workshops that could be applied to the industry in the very near future.
