What is Sports and Exercise Science
​
Sports and Exercise Science is a multidisciplinary subject, which draws on knowledge found in various discrete fields to increase sports performance, reduce injury risks, speed up recovery, and to ultimately raise levels of physical fitness and well-being within the wider community.
Some of the areas of study covered would include:

Using physiology and biomechanics to measure what is happening in a sportsperson’s body;

Using psychology to analyze the role of the mind in performance;

Understanding nutrition to help athletes fuel their bodies correctly; and

Understanding the structure and inner workings of the human body.

The International Sports Academy has partnered with world class institutions such as the Australian Sports Academy, and United States Sports Academy to design academic programmes that are suitable for learners of all abilities, backgrounds and aptitude.

From certificate III and IV programmes to diploma programmes, there is bound to be a course that is suitable for you.

Certificate Programmes
Certificate courses provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills to give working professionals a greater edge in their careers, as well as a strong foundation for those who wish to pursue further studies.
It provides foundation knowledge and skills that would provide working professionals a greater edge in their job roles, as well as a strong foundation for those who wish to pursue further studies to gain more in depth knowledge and academic qualifications.

Diploma Programme (in Sports and Exercise Science)
Diploma programmes provide in-depth knowledge and specialised skills. Diplomas grant vocational knowledge in specialised fields to enhance competency when performing job roles as well as deepens knowledge and understanding for the pursuit of higher learning.

The Certification in Sports and Exercise Science provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring autonomous work within a defined range of exercise instruction situations and activities. This will provide all prospective students with the requisite training that will allow them to qualify for higher education, such as the Academy's diploma programmes, and to gain acceptance into Australian universities such as Edith Cowan University.
Potential Career Pathways

Sports science careers range from roles in sports management and marketing through to personal training, physiotherapy, physiologist and nutritional consultancy. Whether you like the idea of being involved in the training and development of elite athletes, or want to help all kinds of people improve their lives through sports participation, a sports science degree could provide the professional knowledge and training you need.
